The black & gold boxes
Sunday, November 02, 2008
God has given to a young man two boxes to hold. He said, "Put all your sorrows in the black, And all your joys in the gold."
The young man heeded his words, and in the two box, both his joys and sorrows he store. But though the gold became heavier each day. The black was as light as before.
With curiosity, the young man opened the black, he wanted to find out why. And he saw, in the base of the box, a hole which his sorrows had fallen out by.
The young man showed the hole to God, and mused aloud, "I wonder where my sorrows could be." God smiled a gentle smile at him, "My child, they're all here with me."
He asked, "God, why give me the boxes?” "Why the gold, and the black with the hole?"
God answered him "My child, the gold is for you to count your blessings,
the black is for you to let go."
